Crump Office Consolidation Plans - November 2020

Q & A for Crump Teammates

CHANGES TAKING PLACE

What specifically is changing concerning Crump offices?

Seven Crump offices will be closing and the 28 teammates aligned with these offices will become full-time telecommuters.  The offices are:

  • Los Angeles, CA
  • Bethesda, MD
  • Melville, NY
  • Parsippany, NJ
  • Exton, PA
  • Bellevue, WA
  • Middleton, WI

The Interstate Drive Harrisburg facility will be consolidated into Front Street, which impacts 33 teammates currently assigned to Interstate Drive. This consolidation will allow us to make better use of the space needed by those teammates who will eventually return to the office full time, and create a work environment to better support our many remote teammates who will visit the office periodically for training, one-on-one meetings, project meetings, etc.

Do we have plans to make changes to the remaining offices?

No, our intent is to have the appropriate amount of space for people who will work in the office on a regular basis, post-COVID restrictions, as well as accommodate the remote workers who will be visiting offices periodically. Additionally, we have a few people who will continue to be co-located in other Truist space. Our nine remaining offices will continue to be listed on the Who To Contact For What on the Crump Intranet > Home > Quick Links:

  • California – Woodland Hills
  • Colorado – Littleton
  • Connecticut - Farmington
  • Maryland – Owings Mills
  • North Carolina – Charlotte and Wilson
  • Pennsylvania – Harrisburg
  • Tennessee - Memphis
  • Utah – Salt Lake City

When will these office changes take place?
We plan to finalize the office closures by year-end 2020.  Office visits to retrieve personal belongings, and/or pack to be moved to Front Street, will be scheduled in November and coordinated through Abby Boreman, to assure social distancing is maintained. The final office moves will take place in December.

Why are we consolidating our office space?
  1. With 98% or more of our teammates working remotely since March 2020, we are pleased with our ability to keep our business fully operational, servicing clients, onboarding new teammates, focusing on our project deliverables, and building our culture in a remote work world.
  2. These changes do not impact our visibility in the industry or footprint across the country, as we have been expanding our workforce by hiring talented teammates in locations across the U.S. who are not tied to any physical office location.
  3. This is a natural progression of the digital enablement of our industry and our increasing ability to serve our clients, our teammates, and our business partners in a fully-electronic world.
  4. While we will continue to work virtually to meet the ongoing pandemic requirements, we look forward to the time when our teammates can travel to see clients and to meet and work in person, as we do strongly believe that in-person meetings for training, collaborative work, and team building are essential to ongoing engagement, growth, and development.

WORK LOGISTICS

Where will people in those locations go when they need office space for client meetings, team meetings, etc. (once the pandemic restrictions are lifted)?
The Truist footprint is quite large and, in some locations, we will have access to other corporate space to reserve a conference room for necessary meetings. Additionally, we are researching the best options for short-term meeting space in our local markets and will advise teammates of these arrangements when the time comes.

What physical address should remote teammates use on their business cards, bios, email and other corporate communications?

Teammates should NOT use a personal street address in their email signatures, bios, or on their business cards. Additionally, all Registered Representatives should continue to use their corresponding P.J. Robb Variable Corp. office address in their signatures as they do today. All company mail should be sent to one of our main offices for processing as directed by your supervisor. All teammates’ business addresses on all company correspondence should align with one of our primary office locations.

  1. Teammates previously affiliated with one of the closing offices will be assigned to a primary office such as Harrisburg, Hartford, etc.
  2. Teammates assigned to a primary office and working remotely should still use the primary office location on company correspondence (i.e., Harrisburg remote workers should use the Harrisburg office address for official company correspondence.)
  3. Harrisburg Front Street should be the location noted as our home office or corporate headquarters.

As a remote employee, how will I receive mail directed for me that is sent to a primary location?
Since the majority of our business correspondence has become digital there is very little physical mail that needs to be routed to individual teammates at home. However, the mailrooms in our primary locations will continue to forward mail as necessary, typically gathering materials and sending weekly or sending electronically for certain escalated circumstances. If you previously directed personal (non-work) mail to be sent to you at an office location, please complete a change of address to have that personal mail sent directly to you at your home address.

What business-related mail can be sent directly to my personal address?
Individual business correspondence such as magazine subscriptions can be directly routed to your personal address. All official company correspondence should be routed to an office.

How will teammates get printed copies of needed material without an office to go to?

Since the majority of our business is now digital, there should be minimal need for most teammates to print. However, for those who do need printed materials, we have the following options:

  1. Based on business need, a company printer can be ordered for teammates.
  2. FedExOffice continues to be available for teammates to upload appropriate content to be printed and picked up at a local store or delivered to your address. All company policies regarding printed content and data security still apply.
  3. Certain types of content can be sent to a primary Crump office to be printed and mailed to you. Criteria and processes to be defined once we return to our offices.

How will teammates handle shipping / mailing any items when needed?
UPS instructions will be communicated.

How do these changes impact our financial professionals who are assigned to a certain Crump office location?
Financial professionals are not impacted by these changes, other than the physical office location they may have sent mail to may be closing. In these instances, financial professionals should be provided one of our main mail handling locations (Front Street or Salt Lake City office) for all future mail.

If teammates were not previously scheduled to be permanent telecommuters and now will be because of office closures, are there additional steps they need to take?
Designated permanent telecommuter information should be referenced for guidance. New telecommuters will be sent the applicable documentation from Truist.

What steps do permanent telecommuters need to take with their phones?
Teammates’ Crump phone numbers should continue to be operational. Additional instructions will follow by location if needed.

COMMUNICATION TALKING POINTS

How are we communicating the office changes to our financial professionals?

Teammates communicating with financial professionals who are tied to an impacted office location should use the following talking points to address what is changing and why, along with any concerns they may have.

  • Crump Continues to Strengthen our Digital Workforce Capabilities
    • Leveraging today’s digitally-enabled platforms and ongoing teammate desire for remote work, Crump is consolidating a handful of regional offices into geographically-significant centralized locations.
    • This realignment also allows us to build on the strengths of scale in our primary locations while maximizing the talent pool across the entire country, reinforcing our commitment to hiring and supporting a diverse workforce.
    • Working successfully together during the pandemic has demonstrated the benefit of breaking down geographic barriers to our teammates’ locations.
    • The majority of our new hires since the pandemic began have all been from outside one of our existing office locations, helping us to tap into talent throughout the U.S. to meet our ongoing business needs.
  • Changes to the Footprint But Not the Team!
    • The physical office footprint is changing, the teammates in the functions are not.
    • Teammates in the impacted locations will continue as they are today, working as remote teammates on a permanent basis.
    • These changes to our physical office footprint do not impact the scope of our company’s services in any way and we will continue to support financial professionals in all markets across the country.
    • Marketplace data show that Crump certainly is not alone in pursuing this approach, as companies across many industries are revisiting the need for traditional office space. Our strong digital presence and ongoing digital initiatives help make this possible for Crump and positions us well in the industry.
